Essential Precautions Security Guards Must Take During COVID-19

While some of the sectors are shut down and impacted by the organizational slowdowns, others are showing high demand for guard services as an infrastructural need.

It is vital to consider the health of the security guards working at high-risk areas such as healthcare centres and a building where positive patients are found.

In order to keep your team of highly trained security guards protected from COVID-19 in the line of duty, here are some points to consider-

 

1) Wash hands frequently- 

 

While performing the duty, a person tends to touch various surfaces, so the most effective way for guards to protect themselves is to wash their hands thoroughly after a gap of one to two hours. Besides, use liquid soap to scrub the palms and back of your hands and not a soap cake.

 

2) Avoid touching face- 

Avoid touching your face, eyes, nose, mouth and mask with contaminated hands since the virus can spread pretty fast and weaken your immunity. In case you want to adjust your suit and use your hands on your face, apply a sanitizer with at least 60 per cent of alcohol that will disinfect your hands while you are on duty.

3) Take the COVID test-

4) Update PPE (Personal Protection Equipment)-

Their security company must provide them with PPE kit every day to ensure they are shielded against coronavirus germs. The protection kit should include bodysuit, glasses, disposable nitrile gloves, and available respiratory protection like approved surgical masks.

 

5) Disinfect common areas:

While taking care of a locality or serviceable area, a security guard must also keep the public safe by disinfecting various surfaces and coming up with rules for minimizing the risk of virus spread, for instance, marking floor for people to keep a distance, using plexiglass barriers to safeguard employees, verifying ID badges via technology and disinfecting surfaces like phones, radios, scanners, keyboards, etc.

 

6) Limit close contact with people-

Limit your closeness with people, especially if a patient is spotted in your service area. Be at a distance of at least 6 feet from people when on patrolling service or guarding a place.
